US Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Homeless People With Motorised Water Gun

Christopher Cayce, a 34-year-old man from the United States, has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury after allegedly targeting disabled and homeless people with a high-powered motorised water gun and posting videos of the incidents on social media.

The Houston Police Department announced the arrest in a statement published on its official Facebook page, saying investigators from its Major Offenders Division, working alongside the Westside Crime Suppression Team, handled multiple cases involving homeless and disabled individuals who were allegedly sprayed with the device.

Police alleged that Cayce mocked the victims during the attacks and uploaded footage of the incidents online. Authorities confirmed that he has been formally charged with assault causing bodily injury.

The department did not specify where the alleged attacks took place, the total number of victims involved or the exact dates of all the incidents.

According to local media outlet Audacy, Cayce was arrested in connection with an attack on two men that allegedly occurred on June 4. He was detained at the Harris County Jail before posting bond of $100 for each of the two charges, bringing the total to $200. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 9.

Audacy reported that investigators believe the case extends beyond a single incident, linking Cayce to several alleged attacks dating back to last summer in which homeless people sleeping outdoors or waiting near bus stops were sprayed with enough force to cause injuries.

Some of the videos reportedly showed a man driving around Houston while firing the motorised water gun directly at people on streets and sidewalks.

Investigators said the design of the device played a key role in the criminal case, noting that the motorised water gun produced a continuous, high-pressure stream rather than the lower-powered bursts associated with conventional hand-pumped water guns.

Speaking to local broadcaster ABC13 after his release, Cayce defended his actions, claiming he prayed before each outing and that the device had been set to its lowest power.

He also said his description of some of the victims as “zombies” in the videos was intended as content for social media rather than a reflection of his personal views.

Cayce added that he has no plans to repeat the actions, saying police have confiscated the water guns.
