Federal High Court Sentences Two Katsina Notorious Arms Traffickers to Prison for Terrorism

A Federal High Court sitting in Katsina has sentenced two prolific arms traffickers, identified as Lawal Muhammad and Isah Aliyu, to terms of imprisonment following their conviction on multi-count charges linked to terrorism and illegal firearms distribution.

The conviction follows a thorough, intelligence-backed operation conducted by specialized units of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to law enforcement briefs, the duo was central to a high-level logistical ring that actively sourced and smuggled lethal weapons, assault ammunition, and operational hardware directly to active bandit groups terrorizing the Northwest region.

The trial judge held that the prosecution successfully proved beyond reasonable doubt that the activities of the convicts directly enabled catastrophic terror attacks, mass kidnappings, and general insecurity within Katsina State and its environs. The court noted that trafficking weapons to non-state actors is a severe violation of national security laws and must be met with stringent punitive measures to serve as a deterrent.

The judgment has been praised by security analysts as a major milestone in ongoing efforts to cut off the supply chains keeping criminal networks operational. Following the verdict, security agencies re-emphasized their commitment to identifying, tracking down, and prosecuting the financiers and logistics coordinators who act as backbones for banditry and terrorism across Nigeria.
