Vonobolki Assures of Citizens Governance Control, Proclaims End of Godfatherism in Adamawa State

The PDP flagbearer for the upcoming 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State, Maurice Vonobolki, has stated that the reign of political godfatherism has officially finished within the state.

Vonobolki shared this perspective during a media chat at the Yola International Airport shortly after arriving from Abuja, where he was officially presented with his gubernatorial certificate of return. He maintained that the harmful trend of godfather politics was originally dismantled during the 2019 election cycle when Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri ascended to power.

According to the candidate, Governor Fintiri achieved his electoral victory strictly through the direct backing of everyday Adamawa voters without relying on any political patrons.

The guber candidate promised to sustain this democratic trajectory, vowing to eliminate kingmaking trends entirely so that ordinary citizens can completely direct and feel a true sense of ownership over their local government, which is meant to exist primarily for the masses.

Vonobolki noted that the PDP has successfully provided an inclusive platform that gives all its members the necessary confidence to pursue various elected positions. However, he expressed disappointment over the actions of certain dissatisfied primary aspirants who lost out in the internal contests, accusing them of creating uncalled-for friction and spreading confusion within the political space.

He pointed out that because the authentic candidates emerged through standard, transparent protocols approved by the party leadership and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), all lingering disputes over candidacy would naturally clear up. He argued that the official certificates of return given to the primary winners prove that the Adamawa PDP remains unified and free of internal factions, describing the party as a broad umbrella capable of welcoming everyone to secure a definitive victory in the 2027 general elections.

The candidate explained that his immediate purpose was not to kick off a formal campaign but to openly show the certificate of return to state party faithful to debunk spreading rumors and propaganda across the nation. He emphasized that the PDP is running as a cohesive entity nationwide under the national leadership of Honorable Abraham Mohammed.

He noted that the National Executive Committee (NEC) recently ratified the primary outcomes across different states, fully certifying the Adamawa candidates.

Vonobolki concluded by extending an open invitation to any aggrieved members, urging them to reconcile and return to the main fold. He added that all chosen flagbearers have received their respective INEC nomination documents and are fully locked in on steering the party to a comprehensive victory in the next general elections.
