Police Arrest Four Over Adamawa NYSC Lodge Robbery Attack

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspects over the alleged robbery of corps members at the NYSC lodge located within the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola.

The command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, identifying the suspects as Elkana Ishaya, 17; Mubarak Abubakar, 22; Musa Umar, 30; and Kabiru Tanko, 20.

According to the police, the suspects allegedly stormed the Corpers’ Lodge on June 27, armed with dangerous weapons, and robbed about 36 corps members of valuables, including mobile phones, after unlawfully gaining access to the premises.

Nguroje said operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command launched an investigation immediately after the incident was reported, leading to the arrest of the four suspects and the recovery of four mobile phones believed to have been stolen during the attack.

He added that efforts were ongoing to recover additional stolen items and apprehend other members of the robbery gang who remain at large. The suspects, he said, will be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, assured residents, particularly members of the National Youth Service Corps, of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He also appealed to members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or unusual activities to the nearest police station to support ongoing security efforts.
