Tinubu Inaugurates Major Nasarawa Road Projects, Launches Interstate Superhighway Phase

President Tinubu has commissioned a new 600-meter underpass alongside a 3.7-kilometer dualized township road network in the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The infrastructure was built under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s urban renewal initiative to relieve heavy traffic gridlock and stimulate local commerce. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, represented the President at the event and praised the noticeable infrastructural upgrade visible across the state.

During the ceremony, Governor Sule highlighted that the state managed to fund these extensive upgrades entirely without taking out bank loans. He attributed the financial capability directly to increased monthly federal allocations, which rose substantially from around N4 billion to as high as N15 billion due to ongoing federal economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies, foreign exchange market unification, and an adjusted Value Added Tax rate.

The governor also expressed confidence that these developments would secure overwhelming political backing for the President in the next election cycle.

The event also featured the official groundbreaking ceremony for the expansive 700-kilometer Akwanga–Jos–Kaduna–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri Superhighway. The first phase focuses on the 125-kilometer stretch linking Akwanga to Jos. President Tinubu encouraged the project contractors to act as community partners by providing skill transfers and job openings for local youths. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, added that the Federal Executive Council has already cleared N111 billion to launch the concrete-pavement superhighway project.
