PDP Gov Candidate, Aondoakaa Condemns Rising Wave of Killings, Demands Decisive Government Action
PDP candidate for the 2027 Benue State gubernatorial election, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), has strongly criticized the ongoing violent attacks across several areas of the state.
These recent incidents have resulted in numerous civilian deaths and forced thousands of residents to flee their homes.
In an official statement released in Makurdi by his media aide, James Ian, Aondoakaa specifically highlighted two recent tragedies, including the murder of Ardo Muhammad, who served as the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria. He also drew attention to a deadly assault on the Sai community within the Mbajir Ward of the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, which left scores of people dead.
The gubernatorial aspirant described these killings as completely abhorrent and intolerable, calling on security forces to track down and arrest those responsible. Expressing deep sadness over the situation, he characterized the massacres as a stark indicator of the state’s deteriorating security environment.
Aondoakaa extended his deepest sympathies to the families of the victims, the people of the Sai community, and the wider Katsina-Ala local government area, while offering prayers for those who survived the attacks with injuries. He also pointed out that similar violent incursions have been terrorizing communities across Agatu, Guma, Gwer West, and Kwande.
Emphasizing that a government’s fundamental duty is to safeguard the lives and assets of its citizens, Aondoakaa urged the Benue State Government to step up and fulfill its constitutional obligations. He argued that the current administration must implement proactive, concrete measures to defend its people, rather than leaving communities exposed to armed invaders, bandits, and terrorists. He concluded by noting that there is no valid excuse for the state government to fail in its security duties, particularly given the resources available.
