Senate President, Godswill Akpabio took a jab at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), mocking its continued existence and playfully urging the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to let the opposition party fade away.

Akpabio made these remarks while representing President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning of Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Abuja’s Gaduwa District. While acknowledging attending dignitaries—including Senator Olaka Nwogu, who recently won a senatorial by-election on the PDP platform Akpabio expressed mock surprise that the PDP was still operating.

During the event, the Senate President highly praised Wike’s performance as FCT minister, stating that the visible transformation of Abuja under his leadership has left Nigerians amazed and made previous ministers look inactive by comparison.

Wike, who remains a high-profile member of the PDP despite serving as a minister under the APC-led presidency, has generated widespread internal conflict within his own party due to his dual political roles.
