Stop Extrajudicial Killings, DIG Orders Osun Police Commissioner
A Deputy Inspector-General of Police has directed the Commissioner of Police in Osun State to end extrajudicial killings immediately.
The DIG gave the order during a meeting with senior officers. He stressed that police must respect citizens’ rights and follow the law in all operations.
This directive comes amid rising concerns about unlawful killings and abuse of power.
The DIG warned that any officer involved in extrajudicial acts would face punishment. He urged the Osun CP to promote professionalism and accountability. The senior police boss called for intelligence-led policing instead of unlawful methods. This move aims to restore public trust in the force.
Many residents of Osun State have welcomed this strong directive. There have been several reports of questionable killings by police, which damaged confidence in the command.
The order is expected to bring more discipline and reduce brutality among officers.
The DIG also called for better training and supervision to prevent future abuses. He assured that police leadership is committed to reforming the force. This development is part of efforts to improve the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Osun CP has promised full implementation of the directive. Residents hope it will lead to positive changes and better police conduct. The command will monitor compliance and take action against violators.
