Akwa Ibom CP Urges Senior Police Officers to Mentor Future Leaders
The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State has called on senior officers to focus on mentoring the next generation of police leaders. He made the appeal during an important meeting with top officers in the command.
The CP stressed that experienced officers have a duty to pass on their knowledge, skills, and values to younger personnel to build a stronger and more professional police force for the future.
He emphasised that effective mentoring would help improve discipline, leadership qualities, and overall performance within the police. According to him, the younger officers represent the future of the Nigeria Police Force, and investing time in their development is essential for better service delivery to the public. The CP urged senior officers to lead by example and create opportunities for learning and growth on the job.
The call comes as part of broader efforts to strengthen the police institution through capacity building and knowledge transfer. Officials believe that good mentoring will produce officers who are competent, ethical, and ready to tackle current security challenges facing the state and the country.
This approach is expected to boost morale and promote a culture of excellence in the command.
Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, hoping it will lead to a more responsive and professional police service in Akwa Ibom. The CP assured that the command remains committed to community policing and maintaining peace and order. He also encouraged continuous training and collaboration with other security agencies.
This development highlights the importance of leadership succession in the police force. Many believe that if senior officers take up this mentoring role seriously, it will bring long-term benefits to security and public safety across the state. The police command is expected to roll out more programmes to support this goal in the coming months.
