Governor Umar Namadi in Minor Cabinet Reshuffle to Realign Service Delivery
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving three commissioners, in a strategic move aimed at enhancing service delivery and improving governance across the state.
A statement from the Governor’s Office on Monday confirmed the reshuffle, stating that the changes were part of ongoing efforts to reposition the state executive council for greater efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
Although the specific commissioners affected by the reshuffle were not named in the statement, sources within the government said the realignment was based on performance reviews and the need to strengthen key sectors.
Governor Namadi has consistently emphasized performance and accountability in his administration. During a retreat for commissioners and heads of government agencies in September 2023, the governor announced that clear performance indicators would be used to evaluate ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). He reiterated that his administration was committed to a results-driven approach in public service.
This latest move follows several administrative reforms introduced by the Namadi administration, including the appointment of new permanent secretaries and the redeployment of senior civil servants in August 2023, aimed at revitalizing the state’s bureaucracy.
Governor Namadi has also prioritized key sectors such as education, where his administration recently invested over N20 billion in infrastructure development, teacher recruitment, and scholarship programs, reflecting a broader commitment to human capital development.
Political analysts in the state have welcomed the cabinet reshuffle, describing it as a necessary step toward maintaining momentum in governance and delivering on campaign promises.
The reshuffled commissioners are expected to resume duties in their new roles immediately.
