Bwala: PDP Lacks Direction, Leadership Unprepared to Lead, Opines Bwala

Dr. Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the opposition party is struggling to attract new members due to what he describes as poor leadership and a lack of vision.

Speaking during an interview on TVC’s Journalists Hangout, Bwala, a former PDP member himself, said the party’s current state has made it unattractive to Nigerians seeking credible political alternatives.

“Nobody wants to join the PDP right now because the party lacks direction, and its leadership is unprepared to lead,” Bwala said. “If you make your house unattractive, you can’t blame your neighbors for attracting visitors. Sheep always seek greener pastures, not dry land that’s what’s happening with the PDP.”

Bwala’s comments come amid ongoing internal wrangling within the PDP over its leadership structure and the party’s strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. Several key figures have defected from the party in recent months, further fueling perceptions of instability and disorganization.

Analysts say Bwala’s remarks reflect a growing confidence within the All Progressives Congress (APC), as President Tinubu’s administration continues to consolidate political support despite mounting economic challenges and widespread public scrutiny.

Bwala, who defected to the APC in early 2024, has become one of the administration’s most vocal defenders, often critiquing his former party for what he calls a failure to evolve and engage Nigerians meaningfully.

Meanwhile, PDP stakeholders are yet to officially respond to Bwala’s statements, though party insiders acknowledge the need for urgent reforms to rebuild trust and unity within their ranks.

As Nigeria’s political landscape continues to shift, observers note that the PDP’s future hinges on its ability to reorganize and present a go compelling alternative to the ruling APC.
