Bishop Oyedepo Unveils Plans for Powering The Ark, a State-of-the-Art Worship Center

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church, has announced that 32 transformers will be used to power The Ark, a massive worship center scheduled to be dedicated in November.

The Ark, which is part of the Canaanland complex, will require a significant amount of power to support its operations, including 129 elevators, travelators, and escalators that will transport worshippers across its four floors.

The Ark’s power requirements are substantial, with a 109,000-capacity bowl, a 5,000-capacity youth church, and a 20,000-seat children’s church. Additionally, the staff will need to move between the 12 twin tower mission headquarters, making the use of staircases impractical.

To meet these power needs, a new 80MW power plant is being constructed, which will be much larger than the existing 15MW power plant installed in 2016.

The new power plant will not only supply electricity to The Ark but also to the entire Canaanland complex, including Covenant University, Canaan City, and possibly parts of Ota. The Ark will also utilize 1MW of solar energy and a unique rainwater harvesting system, which will aid in flushing the 1,200 restrooms by gravity.

Bishop Oyedepo highlighted that Canaanland has never experienced a complete electricity blackout since 1999, a remarkable feat considering the frequent power outages that plague Nigeria.

The new power plant is expected to be completed in time for The Ark’s dedication in November, ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply to support the worship center’s operations.

The Ark’s design and construction are a testament to the church’s commitment to innovation and excellence. With its state-of-the-art facilities and sustainable energy solutions, The Ark is poised to become a landmark worship center in Nigeria, providing a comfortable and inspiring environment for worshippers from around the world.
