UNICEF Embarks on Immunisation Sensitisation in Bayelsa Communities
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has embarked on a sensitization tour to communities in Bayelsa State, aiming to promote the importance of immunization among children.
The tour, which was sponsored by UNICEF, brought together select journalists, stakeholders, and community members at the Zarama Primary Health Care Centre in Yenagoa Local Government Area. The event provided a platform for interactive discussions between the locals and journalists, seeking feedback on UNICEF’s interventions and the significance of immunization for children.
During the tour, community members, including Mrs. Evidence Matthias, shared their thoughts and concerns about immunization. The event highlighted the importance of immunizing children at every stage of their lives and the value that UNICEF and its partners place on the lives of women and children.
The sensitization tour is part of UNICEF’s efforts to engage communities and promote awareness about the benefits of immunization. By partnering with local stakeholders and journalists, UNICEF aims to reach a wider audience and encourage parents to prioritize their children’s health through immunization.
The World Immunization Week is an annual global campaign that aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against diseases. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of immunization in preventing outbreaks and protecting communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.
With the support of UNICEF and its partners, Bayelsa State is taking steps towards improving immunization coverage and reducing the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases. The sensitization tour is a crucial step towards achieving this goal, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of children in the state.
