300 PDP, NNPP Members Defect to APC in Kaduna

Over 300 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

The mass defection, which took place on Wednesday, was witnessed by the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Emmanuel Jekada, and other top party officials.

According to sources, the defectors, who were largely made up of ward executives, local government officials, and other stakeholders from the PDP and NNPP, cited the impressive performance of the APC-led government in the state as the reason for their decision to join the ruling party.

“We are pleased to welcome our new members into the APC family. Their decision to join us is a clear indication that our party is the party of choice for the people of Kaduna State. We assure them that they will be treated with the utmost respect and given equal opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of our great party,” said Hon. Jekada.

One of the defectors, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi, a former PDP ward chairman, said he decided to join the APC because of the party’s commitment to the welfare of the people.

“I am impressed by the APC’s achievements in Kaduna State, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.

“I believe that the APC is the party that can take Kaduna State to the next level, and I am proud to be a part of it,” he said.

The mass defection is seen as a major setback for the PDP and NNPP in Kaduna State, which have been struggling to regain their foothold in the state.

The development is also expected to boost the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections, as the party seeks to consolidate its hold on the state.

The PDP and NNPP in Kaduna State have reacted to the defection, describing it as “unfortunate” and “desperate.” The parties accused the APC of using “underhand tactics” to lure their members into the party.

“We are not surprised by the defection,” said a PDP spokesperson. “The APC has been using money and other inducements to lure our members into their party. But we are confident that our members will see through their tactics and remain loyal to the PDP.”

The NNPP also reacted to the defection, saying that it was a “desperate attempt” by the APC to cling to power.

“The APC is desperate to hold on to power in Kaduna State, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goal,” said an NNPP spokesperson. “But we are not deterred. We will continue to work hard to provide a credible alternative to the APC and offer the people of Kaduna State a better future “
