Protect APC Primary Results, Says Fajemirokun-Ajayi, Claims Lead in Ondo Federal Constituency
APC House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi has called for the protection of primary election results in Ondo State’s Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency, citing verified tallies that place her ahead in the race.
The primary election took place on May 16, 2026. According to verified polling unit reports, Fajemirokun-Ajayi garnered 4,247 votes, while her rivals Matthew Oye Oyerinmade and Festus Adefiranye obtained 1,790 and 788 votes, respectively.
The aspirant secured decisive victories across most wards in Odigbo, the constituency’s largest voting bloc, including Agbabu, Ago-Alaye, Ajue, Araromi Obu, Ebijaw, Koseru, Odigbo, Ore I, and Ore II.
Reports indicated large voter turnout during the exercise, as the APC shifted from consensus to direct primaries after opposition from stakeholders.
In a statement issued Sunday, Fajemirokun-Ajayi urged the APC national leadership, security agencies, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene against what she described as intimidation and attempts to compromise the process.
She also expressed appreciation to supporters who participated peacefully despite alleged pressure and suppression tactics.
Fajemirokun-Ajayi reported disturbing incidents, including disruption of voting lines, absence of electoral officials, and attempts to manipulate results.
The statement specifically cited the alleged conduct of aides and associates linked to the Ondo State Government, saying their actions risk damaging the credibility of future party elections.
“Democracy cannot survive where intimidation replaces fairness,” the statement read.
Fajemirokun-Ajayi, a former senior special assistant on strategy, investment, and partnership to ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, also appealed for the protection of women, youths, and minority voices from political bullying.
“Women have a place in politics,” she stated. “Women have a place in leadership. And the voices of the people must not be silenced.”
The aspirant’s campaign gained momentum in the lead-up to the primaries, with a coalition of youth leaders and business professionals purchasing her APC expression of interest and nomination forms in late April.
She intensified grassroots mobilisation with visits to traditional rulers and community leaders across the constituency.
