Stop Your Family from Interfering With Governance, Atiku Tells Tinubu

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in his family members, particularly his son, Seyi Tinubu, who has been accused of using coercion, violence, and intimidation to purchase political loyalty.
In a statement released by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku expressed deep concern over the serious allegations made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah, who claimed to have been physically assaulted, abducted, and induced by Seyi Tinubu.
Atiku described the allegations as “deeply alarming” and “disturbing,” stating that they strike at the core of democratic norms and civil liberty. He warned that if the incident had ended fatally, it would have been recorded as one of the many atrocities committed by criminal elements in the country.
The former Vice President condemned the alleged actions of Seyi Tinubu, stating that it is “intolerable” for the first family to seek to subjugate civil society groups through threats, bribes, or brute force. He reminded the President that Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy handed down to one family.
Atiku also dismissed attempts to link him to the scandal, stating that his meeting with Comrade Isah was centered on education reform and improving student welfare.
He called for an independent investigation into the allegations made by Isah, citing concerns that the agencies meant to protect citizens appear complicit in his ordeal.
The former Vice President warned that any harm to Comrade Isah would not go unnoticed or unchallenged, and reiterated his commitment to the principles of democracy, rule of law, and the use of education as a cornerstone for national progress and development.
He vowed not to be distracted by false narratives or cowardly intimidation, and urged well-meaning Nigerians to speak out against the alleged actions of the President’s family.
