Imo APC Primaries: Reps Members Okafor, Onuoha Lose Return Tickets

Two serving members of the House of Representatives from Imo State, Chike Okafor and Miriam Onuoha, have lost their bids to secure the All Progressives Congress tickets for another term in office.

The lawmakers were defeated during the party’s primary elections conducted on Friday ahead of the next general election.

Okafor, who has represented Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives since 2015, lost his fourth-term ambition to former Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Jonas Okeke.

In a similar development, Onuoha failed in her attempt to secure a third term after losing the APC ticket for Okigwe North Federal Constituency to Agasu Uchenna.

Meanwhile, several incumbent lawmakers retained their tickets after emerging victorious in their respective primaries.

Among them are Canice Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo, Eugene Dibiagwu, Akarachi Amadi, and Tochukwu Okere.

Other candidates who secured the party’s tickets include Ngozi Pat-Ekeji for Aboh/Ngor-Okpala Federal Constituency, Chukwudi Anyanwuocha for Ahiazu/Ezinihitte, and Sandra Inyama for Ideato Federal Constituency.

Also emerging from the primaries was Cosmos Maduba, who won the ticket for Nkwerre/Nwangele/Isu/Njaba Federal Constituency after defeating incumbent lawmaker Harrison Nwadike.
