Ebonyi Governor Dismisses Reports of Parallel APC Primaries
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has dismissed claims that parallel primaries are taking place for the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives elections in the state.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing primaries will produce strong and credible candidates. The governor spoke to journalists at the APC secretariat in Abakaliki after electoral materials were distributed.
Nwifuru praised the party leadership, including President Bola Tinubu and the national working committee, for organising a transparent process.
He noted that wide consultations were held with stakeholders across different federal constituencies to ensure everything went smoothly. According to him, the primaries reflect true internal democracy within the APC.
The governor specifically addressed rumours about parallel activities, especially in the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency. He made it clear that the party has only one official committee in charge and that no parallel congress would be allowed.
He encouraged all aspirants to test their popularity through the official process.
Nwifuru also described recent defections and resignations by some party members as normal parts of democracy. He said people are free to seek other platforms if they wish.
The governor believes the exercise will strengthen the APC and help it maintain its strong position in Ebonyi State.
This development shows efforts by the APC to ensure peaceful and credible primaries across the state. With electoral materials already distributed to all wards, voting is expected to proceed without major issues.
Many residents are now watching to see the final outcome of the primaries.
