Emeka Ike Declares Interest in Abuja House of Reps Seat Under NDC
Veteran Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, has reportedly declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The actor’s reported entry into the 2027 political race has sparked conversations across social media and political circles, with supporters describing the move as a fresh attempt by entertainers to play active roles in governance and national development.
According to reports circulating online, Emeka Ike recently aligned with the NDC and is seeking to represent an Abuja constituency in the green chamber of the National Assembly ahead of the next general elections.
Although there has yet to be an official nationwide announcement from the party leadership, political observers say the development signals growing momentum within emerging political platforms preparing for the 2027 elections.
This is not the first time the Nollywood star has ventured into politics. In 2018, Emeka Ike declared interest in contesting for the House of Representatives seat for Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State under the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
The actor, known for his long-standing career in the Nigerian film industry, has over the years remained vocal on issues affecting entertainers and governance in the country.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, a relatively new political movement, has recently attracted public attention amid reports of alliances and possible defections involving notable political figures across the country.
Political analysts believe the increasing participation of celebrities in politics reflects changing dynamics in Nigeria’s democratic space, where public influence and media visibility continue to shape electoral conversations ahead of 2027.
