APC National Chairman Hosts Oyo State Exco, Fuels Speculation Over Adelabu’s Declaration

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has hosted members of the Oyo State APC Working Committee at his residence in Abuja.

The meeting took place on the eve of Chief Bayo Adelabu’s official declaration for the governorship race. Interestingly, none of the state executive members were present at Adelabu’s event the following day.

Those who attended the meeting with the national chairman included the State Chairman, Deputy Chairman, State Secretary, Senatorial Chairmen, Women Leader, Youth Leader, State Publicity Secretary, Welfare Secretary, Legal Adviser, and Organizing Secretary.

The gathering has raised questions about internal alignments and possible shifts within the Oyo APC.

Feelers from the meeting suggest there may be deeper strategic discussions going on within the party in Oyo State. Many observers believe the timing of the meeting, just before Adelabu’s declaration, is not a coincidence. This has created fresh tension and excitement in Oyo APC politics.

The absence of the state exco members at Adelabu’s declaration has become a major talking point. It has led to speculations about loyalty, zoning, and the direction the party wants to take ahead of the 2027 governorship election. Political watchers say more developments are expected in the coming weeks.

As the 2027 elections approach, the Oyo chapter of the APC appears to be entering a very interesting phase. The recent meeting hosted by
Yilwatda has added to the growing political drama in the state. Party members and the public are keenly watching how these internal moves will shape the APC’s chances in Oyo.
