Nottingham Forest pulled off a sensational Monday afternoon upset, defeating Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge to boost their survival hopes.

Despite manager Vitor Pereira making eight changes to his starting lineup to rest key players for their upcoming Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa, the heavily rotated “Tricky Trees” completely outplayed a listless Chelsea side in front of a stunned home crowd.

The afternoon began in nightmare fashion for the Blues, as Forest took the lead just 97 seconds after kickoff. Dilane Bakwa found space on the flank and delivered a pinpoint cross for Taiwo Awoniyi, who rose highest to power a header past Robert Sánchez. The early goal set the tone for a dominant Forest performance, as Chelsea’s defense struggled to cope with the visitors’ clinical counter-attacks.

Chelsea managed a late consolation goal in the 93rd minute through an acrobatic bicycle kick from João Pedro, finally ending the club’s two-month goal drought. However, it was far too little, too late. The result marks Chelsea’s sixth consecutive league defeat, their worst run in over 30 years, leaving them adrift in 9th place while Forest moves a crucial six points clear of the relegation zone.
