Police Arrest Three Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicles in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered stolen vehicles and weapons during a series of intelligence-driven operations targeting car theft syndicates.

Police said the suspects — Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi — were apprehended following investigations into reported vehicle thefts within Ogun State and neighbouring areas.

According to police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation began with the arrest of Olarewaju, who was found with a suspicious vehicle plate number. His detention led to further investigations and the arrest of Ayinde, identified as the alleged leader of a robbery network.

During the operation, officers recovered a stolen Toyota Sienna and a locally fabricated pistol believed to have been used in robbery activities.

In a related case, a Toyota Corolla stolen from Ilaro was tracked and recovered in Ibadan, where it was found in the possession of Arowolo Taoreed.

Police also arrested Adewusi in connection with another robbery incident. Investigations linked him to a stolen 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport traced to Abuja. A second firearm was recovered in Ajah and is believed to be connected to the same criminal network.

Authorities said preliminary findings indicate the suspects are part of an organised syndicate responsible for armed robbery and vehicle theft across multiple states.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended officers for the operation, stating it reflects the command’s focus on intelligence-led policing and efforts to curb violent crime.

Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the group and recover additional stolen vehicles, urging residents to provide timely information to support investigations.
