Bayelsa Police Parade 26 Suspects, Recover Firearms, Stolen Vehicles

The Nigeria Police Force in Bayelsa State has paraded 26 suspects arrested for a range of offences including armed robbery, cultism, vandalism, fraud and illegal possession of firearms.

The Commissioner of Police, Iyamah Edebor, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Yenagoa.

He said the arrests were carried out in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at strengthening nationwide crime control efforts.

According to the command, several operations led to the recovery of weapons, stolen vehicles and other exhibits linked to criminal activities across the state.

One of the major recoveries involved a white Toyota Hiace bus valued at about ₦145 million, which was reportedly stolen and later traced to Lagos.

Police said the vehicle was recovered after coordinated intelligence-led operations, with multiple suspects arrested in connection with its movement and resale.

Investigators also uncovered alleged transactions involving the sale of the vehicle through intermediaries, while efforts continue to apprehend a suspect currently at large.

In a separate operation, three suspects were arrested at Ebis Road Junction in Yenagoa during a stop-and-search exercise. A locally made firearm was recovered from them.

Another suspect was apprehended following intelligence reports, with a concealed pistol recovered during a search of his residence.

Police also arrested an individual accused of assault, during which additional weapons including a fabricated pistol and machete were reportedly discovered.

In another case, four suspects travelling in a truck along the East–West Road were arrested, with security operatives recovering firearms and live cartridges from the vehicle.

The command further confirmed the arrest of a suspected serial killer wanted by police in Ebonyi State in connection with multiple homicide cases.

The police urged residents to continue providing credible information to support ongoing security operations, assuring that efforts are ongoing to sustain pressure on criminal networks across Bayelsa State.
