Ex-Plateau Commissioner Rejects APC Campaign Council Appointment

A former Plateau State Commissioner for Works and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Aminu Zang, has rejected his appointment to the All Progressives Congress campaign council in the state.

Zang said his decision was informed by his loyalty to the PDP and his unwillingness to work against the party he has served for years.

He stated that he remains a committed member of the PDP and cannot in good conscience accept a role in an opposition campaign structure.

The former commissioner, who also served as Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, was recently listed among members of the APC campaign council inaugurated by Governor Caleb Mutfwang ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The council was inaugurated on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

Governor Mutfwang, who defected from the PDP to the APC in January 2026, had charged members of the council to pursue a disciplined, issue-based and peaceful campaign for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates.

The council is expected to coordinate mobilisation across Plateau State.

Reacting to his inclusion, Zang said those linking him to a secret romance with the APC were attempting to portray him in bad light. He maintained that politics for him is about service to the people and not a means of livelihood.

He explained that while he belongs to non-political associations that cut across party lines, including the Association of Commissioners and Senior Assistants, his political loyalty remains with the PDP.

Zang called on the APC to remove his name from its campaign list and urged his supporters to disregard the appointment, noting that he will continue to work for the success and rebuilding of the PDP in Plateau State.
