Ondo To Set Up Youth Call Centre To Bridge Communication Gap
The Ondo State Government is planning to establish a youth call centre to be known as the Ondo State Youth Call Centre to serve as a direct communication channel between the government and young people.
The initiative is designed to provide a direct and accessible platform for youths across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Youth and Social Inclusion, Comrade Henry Okunomo.
According to the statement, the centre will serve as a central platform where young people can make enquiries, seek information about employment and empowerment opportunities, report challenges, submit complaints and access relevant government interventions and communicate their concerns directly to the appropriate authorities.
The statement said the initiative will also promote youth participation in governance, strengthen social inclusion, facilitate access to educational and entrepreneurial opportunities and ensure that the voices of young people, particularly those in underserved and riverine communities, are heard and appropriately addressed.
Okunomo said through the platform, his office seeks to bridge the communication gap between government and young people while establishing a more structured mechanism for identifying, documenting and responding to youth-related concerns across the state.
He explained that the centre will also facilitate referrals to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, ensuring that enquiries and complaints received from youths are given appropriate attention and prompt action.
He described the youth call centre as a project that meets the 21st century rapid response and synergy required for youth and social inclusion in governance, adding that it will improve transparency and feedback in government programmes targeted at young people.
He noted that the official launch date, operational arrangements and communication channels for the centre will be made public in due course, urging youths in the state to take advantage of the platform when it becomes operational.
