Troops Free Four Kidnap Victims in Zamfara, Kebbi Operations
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, have successfully rescued four people who were kidnapped in separate operations across Zamfara and Kebbi states.
The rescues were carried out on Wednesday as part of ongoing military efforts to curb criminal activities in the North-West.
Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, spokesman for the 8 Division, Sector 2, confirmed the operations on Thursday. He said the victims were freed in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and in an area between Bena and Sawade in Kebbi State.
In Zamfara, soldiers rescued 25-year-old Mansur Shehu and 49-year-old Kadijat Haruna from a farmland in Binoni Marafa. The pair had been held by suspected criminals in the area before the troops intervened.
In Kebbi State, the troops freed 35-year-old Jimoh Su-Arege and 41-year-old Kalahe Danjuma. The operation followed reports that suspected terrorists were moving with kidnap victims from Dipindu village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. The two victims were later handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu.
Osoba said the military would continue intensified patrols and surveillance in the affected areas to restrict the movement of criminal elements. He reaffirmed the troops’ commitment to protecting lives and property in communities facing kidnapping and other security threats.
