Makinde’s Security Aide, Kabiru Salami Resigns From Oyo Government
Hon. Kabiru Salami, Executive Assistant on Security Coordination to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Salami conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated October 20, 2026, addressed to the governor through the office of the Chief of Staff.
In the letter, he expressed appreciation to Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve in the state government, describing his time in the administration as an honour and a humbling experience.
The outgoing aide also reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, security and development of Oyo State despite his decision to leave the government.
His resignation comes amid a series of departures by political appointees and senior aides from Makinde’s administration in recent months.
Among those who have recently left their positions is Segun Ogunwuyi, who resigned as Chief of Staff on October 12, 2026. His departure was followed by the appointment of Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his replacement.
Tara Adefope, who headed the Oyo State Due Process Office, has also been affected by changes within the administration, with Aderonke Adedayo appointed to lead the office while retaining her existing responsibilities as Senior Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.
Salami’s exit adds to the changes taking place within the governor’s political and administrative circle as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
However, no specific reason was disclosed for Salami’s resignation, and there was no immediate indication of his next political or professional move.
