Nollywood Star, Adunni Ade Mourns Mother as Colleagues Rally Around Her

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Adunni Ade is in mourning after the death of her mother, who passed away on Sunday, October 18, following a prolonged illness.

The actress broke the news on Monday in an emotional tribute on her Instagram page, where she shared a photograph of her late mother. Adunni said she was announcing the passing of her beloved mother with a heavy heart and in submission to the will of Almighty Allah.

She added that her mother is survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones, who will continue to hold her memory close.

In the post, she prayed for Allah to forgive her mother’s shortcomings, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her a place in paradise. She also asked for strength and patience for the family as they come to terms with the loss, and said she hopes they will be reunited in the hereafter. Funeral arrangements have not been announced, but the actress said details will be communicated in due course.

Adunni did not disclose her mother’s name, her age or the illness she battled. She had, however, spoken publicly in the past about her mother’s health struggles. In 2019, she shared photographs of her mother in a hospital bed, saying she wanted to celebrate her while she was still alive and expressing confidence that she would pull through.

Colleagues and fans have since flooded her comment section with prayers and condolence messages, with Nollywood actresses Mercy Aigbe and Taaooma among those who sent their sympathies.
