United States Consul General Brandon Hudspeth welcomed Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy to the US Consulate in Lagos on Friday.

The meeting focused on ways to expand cooperation between the American and Nigerian creative industries.

Discussions centred on turning the strong cultural links between the two countries into real economic opportunities. Both sides looked at practical steps that could benefit creators, businesses and audiences in Nigeria and the United States.

Key topics included building commercial relationships between US and Nigerian studios, record labels and streaming platforms. They also talked about strengthening protection for intellectual property, making it easier for artists and industry professionals to exchange ideas, and attracting investment into creative infrastructure.

The talks highlighted the growing global impact of Nigerian music and the potential for deeper partnerships in the entertainment sector. Officials noted that closer collaboration could open new doors for talent on both sides.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the US Mission in Nigeria to support the creative industries as a source of economic growth and cultural exchange.
