Tinubu Congratulates Modi on 25 Years of Unbroken Public Service
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on marking 25 years of uninterrupted public service.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Tinubu described the milestone as a significant achievement, noting that Modi first assumed office in 2001 as Chief Minister of Gujarat before becoming Prime Minister of India in 2014.
The President said Modi’s 25-year public service record reflected the confidence placed in him by the Indian people, particularly in the world’s most populous country.
He said Modi’s tenure had been marked by a focus on development, including infrastructure, digital public services, financial inclusion and innovation.
Tinubu also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and India, recalling Modi’s state visit to Abuja in November 2024, during which Nigeria conferred on him the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.
According to him, the visit strengthened bilateral cooperation in areas including trade and investment, energy, defence and security, health, education and technology.
The President said Nigeria and India, as democracies and leading voices of the Global South, shared a commitment to a more inclusive and representative international order.
Tinubu wished Modi good health, continued strength and success in serving the people of India.
