Joao Felix Seals Portugal Win in Copenhagen as Reijnders Rescues Dutch in Greece as Wales Beat Norway
Portugal won a six goal thriller in Copenhagen on Thursday night, beating Denmark 4-2 in the UEFA Nations League to make it three wins from three in Group A4.
Joao Cancelo put the visitors ahead after 13 minutes, but Mikkel Damsgaard levelled for Denmark just 10 minutes later. Goncalo Ramos restored Portugal’s lead almost immediately, and Rasmus Hojlund brought the hosts level again early in the second half.
Vitinha then put Portugal back in front in the 67th minute, and Joao Felix added the fourth late on to settle the contest at the Parken Stadium.
In the same group, Wales picked up their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Norway in Cardiff. Oscar Bobb gave the visitors an early lead, but Daniel James levelled before the break and Neco Williams struck shortly after the restart to hand Wales all three points and end a run of two straight defeats.
Germany bounced back in Munich, beating Serbia 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. Tom Bischof broke the deadlock just before halftime and Florian Wirtz added the second on the hour mark as the Germans recorded their first win in Group A2.
In Thessaloniki, Greece were held to a 2-2 draw by the Netherlands. Fotis Ioannidis and Giorgos Masouras put the hosts two goals clear, with Masouras scoring in first half stoppage time. Virgil van Dijk pulled one back for the Dutch early in the second half, and Tijjani Reijnders scored the equaliser to rescue a point.
Greece stay unbeaten with seven points and remain top of the group.
In League B, the Republic of Ireland drew 2-2 with Austria at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Troy Parrott scored twice for the hosts, including a penalty on the stroke of halftime, but Austria hit back through Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch within six minutes late in the game to take a point. Elsewhere in Group B3, Israel and Kosovo played out a goalless draw in Debrecen, Hungary.
Lower down, Malta and Gibraltar shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in League D, with Malta’s goal coming early in the second half and Gibraltar’s Scanlon equalising eight minutes later. Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein also played out a 0-0 stalemate in Baku.
