BBNaija Star,Cross Laments “No Safety” After Street Beggar Strips Car’s Windscreen seal in Lekki Traffic

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Cross Okonkwo has raised concerns over security in Lagos after he said a street beggar vandalised his car and ran off with part of it while he was stuck in traffic in the Ikate area of Lekki.

In a series of videos shared on Instagram, the reality star said several beggars gathered around his vehicle and began talking to him through the window.

He said one of them then tore the moulding from around the car’s windscreen and fled before he could react.

Cross got out of the car and chased the man but could not catch up with him. He said he later spotted the suspect across the road, but the man got away. He also filmed the damage to the car, showing where the windscreen trim had been ripped off.

Other street boys reportedly gathered around and offered to help him find the culprit, but it did not lead anywhere.

Visibly frustrated, Cross said Nigerians are not safe in their own country. He also questioned why the authorities in Lagos allow thugs and street beggars to operate openly on the roads, and he called on the Federal Government to act.

His experience appears to be part of a wider pattern in Lekki. A woman driving a Mercedes-Benz in the area around 9 pm recently said a three-man gang ripped a chrome strip off her windscreen while traffic stood still. She put the value of the part at ₦300,000.
