Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has told the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to make his political position clear regarding the Rainbow Coalition.

He insisted that Wike cannot support the All Progressives Congress and other political parties at the same time.

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been linked to the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party platform aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. However, APC governors have distanced themselves from the arrangement, saying it could undermine the President’s campaign.

Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Lawal said the message from APC governors is clear: people must choose one side. He stressed that anyone supporting the APC should fully back the party rather than maintain ties with other platforms.

The governor maintained that the APC governors would not change their stance, regardless of Wike’s comments. He confirmed that the governors are effectively asking the FCT minister to join the APC.

Lawal added that he plans to discuss Wike’s political position with President Tinubu when the President returns from his working vacation. He said there should be a clear line on where the minister belongs, stating it is either he is in the APC or he is out.
