Sharon Ademefun, elder sister of Afrobeats star Davido, has revealed that the two of them are always fighting, even though she says they share a very close bond. She made the disclosure in a recent interview in which she also spoke about her marriage and how she built her wig business.

Ademefun said she has played a protective role in her brother’s life since they were children, despite being only about six and a half years older than him. According to her, the two have worked together from the very beginning of his music career. She noted that their frequent disagreements have not weakened their relationship, which she says has held firm through the demands of their separate lives.

The mother of three also credited her husband for much of her successes, saying his support gives her the peace of mind she needs to be creative. She explained that she told him early on that their marriage would not follow a traditional pattern, and that she chose a partner who could support her ambitions as an equal. She said the honesty she brought into the relationship was something her father instilled in her.

On her career, Ademefun said she taught herself to make wigs while heavily pregnant, after growing frustrated with how difficult it was to book a good hairstylist. She later travelled around the world for professional training. She recalled that an instructor she had repeatedly approached for lessons never responded, but when he announced a training programme, she signed up from her hospital bed just after giving birth. She said her family backed her when she told them afterwards.

Ademefun, who was born and raised in the United States, added that she moved to Nigeria in 2008 and has enjoyed living in the country since then. She also said their father, business mogul Adedeji Adeleke, has always been heavily involved in his business interests but has made more time for his grandchildren as the family has grown.
