Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has approved the appointment of 101 political aides to serve in various capacities across his administration. The appointments take effect immediately.

The appointments, announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, comprise seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.

Among those appointed as Special Advisers are S.N.C. Nwagu, assigned to Conflict Resolution and Mediation; Fidelis Odo, Inter-Governmental Affairs and Coordination; Augustine Okoli, Policy Affairs and Analysis; Pedro Nwankwo, Stakeholders Relations and Community Affairs; Chimezie Nkwuo, Economic Development; Vitalis Okonkwo, Grassroots Coordination; and Peter Andy Omeje, Commerce and Business Development.

The six Senior Special Assistants include Rachael Okonkwo, Film and Creative Industry Development; Okey Ude, Inter-Party and Mobilisation; Chinedu Chukwunwike, Party Monitoring; Peter Chukwujekwu Ogbe, Legal and Regulatory Compliance; Chukwudi Ozoeluba, Boundary and Land Dispute Resolution; and Frank Udemezue, Small and Medium Enterprise Development.

The 88 Special Assistants were assigned responsibilities covering several areas, including security, environmental protection, youth development, women mobilisation, media, grassroots engagement, infrastructure monitoring, civic education and community relations.

Other portfolios include market sanitation and decongestion, rural development, social welfare, digital innovation, sports development, public communication, political liaison and inter-governmental affairs.

The appointments include Chukwudi Nwatu as Special Assistant on Social Media, while several others were assigned roles relating to youth mobilisation, women empowerment, community development and grassroots coordination.

A political scientist based in Enugu, Ifeanyi Nnamani, said the appointments covering areas such as inter-party affairs, voter awareness and grassroots mobilisation could strengthen the administration’s political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described the appointments as part of efforts to build structures at the grassroots and improve communication between the government and residents.

The state government said all 101 appointments take immediate effect.
