Qadiriyya Backs Tinubu: Beyond Endorsements, What About Performance?

The 2027 political season is gradually taking shape, and religious leaders are becoming part of the conversation.

On Sunday, the leader of the Qadiriyya movement in Africa, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara, declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.

The declaration came when the APC Presidential Campaign Council, led by its Director-General, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, visited the cleric.

Sheikh Qaribullah said his support was also linked to his long-standing relationship with Yari and expressed hope for peace, economic recovery, jobs and an end to insecurity.

But for accountability, endorsements are only one part of the conversation.

The real test is whether these engagements also bring citizens’ concerns directly to those seeking another term.

Security, jobs, food prices, education, infrastructure and the cost of living are issues Nigerians can measure.

Religious support may mobilise people, but policy commitments must still be clear, measurable and open to scrutiny.

As the 2027 campaign gathers momentum, Nigerians need not only endorsements, but also clear promises, timelines and evidence of what has been achieved.
