JAMB Sacks Staff Over Extortion, Intensifies Crackdown on Internal Corruption
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed a staff accused of extorting candidates and has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating corruption and misconduct within the organisation.
The examination body said the disciplinary action forms part of broader efforts to strengthen integrity, accountability and transparency in its operations while protecting candidates from fraudulent practices.
JAMB stressed that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and will continue to take firm action against any official found engaging in activities capable of undermining the credibility of its processes.
The board noted that internal monitoring and investigative mechanisms have been strengthened to detect and address misconduct, including extortion, examination fraud and other unethical practices.
Officials emphasized that candidates and parents should avoid individuals who claim they can influence admissions, examination results or other processes in exchange for money, warning that such claims are fraudulent.
According to the board, admissions and examination procedures are guided by established systems and regulations, making it unnecessary for candidates to seek unofficial assistance or pay unauthorized fees.
JAMB also urged members of the public to report suspected cases of extortion, fraud or misconduct involving its personnel, assuring that all credible complaints would be thoroughly investigated.
The development reflects the board’s ongoing campaign to maintain public confidence in the admissions process and ensure that candidates are treated fairly in accordance with existing regulations.
