Aiyedatiwa Pledges Dangote Shares for 500 Ondo Youth Entrepreneurs
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced plans to purchase shares in the Dangote Group for 500 young entrepreneurs in the state as part of efforts to promote investment culture and long-term wealth creation among youths.
The governor made the announcement during the 2026 Ondo State Entrepreneurship Agency (ONDEA) Entrepreneurs Summit held in Akure. He said the initiative is designed to expose young business owners to investment opportunities and encourage them to build wealth beyond their immediate enterprises.
According to Aiyedatiwa, entrepreneurship is not only about starting businesses but also about identifying opportunities, embracing innovation and creating sustainable economic value. He noted that the share purchase programme would give beneficiaries a stake in one of Nigeria’s leading industrial groups while encouraging a culture of investment and financial planning.
The governor also unveiled the “Lucky Light Initiative,” a programme aimed at providing reliable and affordable solar power to 1,000 small businesses across the state’s 18 local government areas. He explained that the initiative would be implemented in phases, beginning with selected beneficiaries before expanding to more businesses.
Aiyedatiwa stressed that his administration is focused on building an entrepreneurial ecosystem that connects finance, technology, skills development and market access. He identified agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, technology, renewable energy, the creative industry and export-oriented ventures as key sectors with strong potential for growth and job creation.
He urged young entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities provided through government programmes, invest wisely and build businesses capable of creating jobs and contributing to economic development.
