Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has said the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 would be important for sustaining ongoing reforms and projects aimed at transforming Nigeria’s digital economy.

Tijani stated that the current administration has initiated policies and programmes designed to expand digital infrastructure, support innovation, improve connectivity and create opportunities for young Nigerians in the technology sector.

According to the minister, continuity in leadership would help ensure that ongoing digital economy initiatives are fully implemented and deliver their intended benefits to businesses, investors and citizens.

He noted that efforts to strengthen broadband penetration, encourage technology-driven entrepreneurship and enhance digital skills development are part of a broader strategy to position Nigeria as a leading digital economy in Africa.

Tijani also highlighted the role of innovation and technology in driving economic growth, job creation and improved public service delivery, stressing that sustained policy implementation is necessary to achieve long-term objectives.

His remarks come amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections, with supporters and critics of the administration assessing the impact of ongoing economic and governance reforms.

The minister maintained that preserving momentum in the digital sector would be essential for attracting investment, boosting productivity and ensuring that Nigeria remains competitive in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
