The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to work together to ensure that children can access education in safe environments without fear of attacks.

She made the call in a message issued on Wednesday to commemorate the 2026 International Day to Protect Education from Attack.

The First Lady, who described education as critical to the future of children and communities, said threats against schools, teachers and students could undermine the prospects of young people.

According to her, classrooms provide an avenue for children to develop their abilities, nurture their aspirations and build hope for the future.

“As an educationist, I know that a classroom is where potential is discovered, dreams take root, and hope is nurtured,” she said.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to make the protection of schools and learners a collective priority by supporting teachers and defending every child’s right to education.

She said safeguarding education amounted to preserving hope and protecting the future of the country.

The 2026 International Day to Protect Education from Attack is being observed under the theme, “Education Can Survive Attack.”

Tinubu also wished Nigerians a meaningful celebration of the international day.
