The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has rejected allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it is collecting Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and personal data from residents for political purposes.

The ruling party described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that neither the party nor its officials are involved in any unlawful collection of voter information.

APC officials maintained that the allegations were politically motivated and aimed at creating unnecessary tension among residents ahead of future electoral activities.

According to the party, all its programmes and engagements with members of the public are conducted within the bounds of the law and do not involve the confiscation of PVCs or the unauthorized gathering of personal information.

The party also urged citizens to disregard what it described as unfounded accusations, stressing that voter cards remain personal property and should remain in the possession of their owners.

APC leaders challenged those making the allegations to provide credible evidence to support their claims, arguing that public discourse should be based on facts rather than speculation.

The development follows a disagreement between the state’s major political parties over activities linked to voter mobilisation and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
