Peter Obi Arrives Jos for Solidarity Visit to Mangu Attack Victims

Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on Tuesday arrived in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of a solidarity visit to Mangu Local Government Area, following a recent deadly attack on communities in the area.

Obi was received at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang by members of the Plateau State executive and other chieftains of the NDC.

The visit is aimed at identifying with victims and families affected by the attack, which reportedly claimed several lives, left others injured and resulted in the destruction of property.

Party supporters and other stakeholders gathered at the airport to welcome the presidential candidate, who is expected to proceed to Mangu to assess the situation and engage with victims, community leaders and other stakeholders.

During the visit, Obi is expected to commiserate with families who lost loved ones and encourage residents still dealing with the aftermath of the violence.

He is also expected to hear firsthand accounts from survivors and community leaders about the circumstances surrounding the attack and the security challenges facing communities in the area.

The visit is expected to renew attention to the plight of communities affected by recurring attacks in parts of Plateau State, amid calls from residents and stakeholders for urgent measures to safeguard lives and property.

Obi is further expected to advocate stronger security measures and sustained support for victims of violent attacks, while urging relevant authorities to take decisive action to halt recurring killings and displacement in vulnerable communities.
