Former Labour Party chieftain and actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stands a better chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election than Peter Obi.

Okonkwo argued that Atiku remains the opposition figure with the broadest national political reach and the capacity to attract votes across different regions of the country.

He also described Obi as being more effective at generating public engagement and online attention than building the political coalition needed to win a nationwide election.

According to him, if President Tinubu, Atiku and Obi were to contest against one another in 2027, Atiku would emerge as the strongest challenger based on current political realities and electoral calculations.

The former Labour Party spokesperson maintained that opposition parties must focus on building a united front if they hope to unseat the ruling party in the next general election.

Okonkwo further stated that personal popularity and social media support alone may not be enough to secure victory in a presidential election, stressing the importance of political structures, alliances and nationwide acceptance.

His comments add to the growing debate within opposition circles over the best strategy and candidate capable of mounting a formidable challenge against President Tinubu in 2027.
