US Forces Launch Fresh Strikes on Iranian Targets After Shipping Attacks

The United States military has carried out fresh strikes against targets in Iran, following a series of attacks involving shipping in the region and renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The strikes targeted two rocket-launch facilities on Iran’s Larak Island, located near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The operation marks the first publicly acknowledged US attack on targets inside Iran since late July.

US officials described the action as part of efforts to counter threats to American forces and shipping interests in the region. The latest strikes have raised concerns that the recent lull in fighting between the two countries could give way to another escalation.

Iran subsequently responded with attacks on US military positions in the region, including bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

The renewed confrontation has also triggered concerns in global energy markets because Larak Island is close to the Strait of Hormuz, a major route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply is transported.

The developments have further increased fears of a broader regional conflict, with diplomatic efforts facing renewed pressure amid the latest exchange of attacks.
