The Lagos State Government has successfully trained and graduated 6,190 residents through its short-term vocational and entrepreneurial empowerment programs.

Designed to tackle unemployment and boost local economic growth, the free initiative provided practical skills to youths, women, and vulnerable individuals across the state. Officials confirmed that the graduates completed intensive courses across various practical trades to help them become self-reliant.

Participants underwent hands-on training in high-demand skills, including fashion design, catering, soap making, event decoration, hair styling, and digital marketing. Alongside technical training, the curriculum included essential business management skills to teach students how to run micro-enterprises successfully. The goal was to equip participants not just with a trade, but with the tools needed to establish sustainable small businesses.

To ensure immediate impact, the state government provided the top-performing graduates with starter packs and essential equipment to launch their ventures right away. Officials stressed that giving practical tools alongside education removes the financial barrier that often prevents new entrepreneurs from starting out. Beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude, noting that the starter kits would allow them to earn income immediately.

The State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation highlighted that empowering residents at the grassroots level remains a core strategy for reducing poverty and crime. Government representatives urged the new graduates to make full use of their new skills, mentor others in their communities, and contribute positively to the local economy.

As the graduation ceremony concluded, the state government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding vocational centers and running more free training sessions throughout the year. Community leaders praised the initiative, calling it a vital lifeline for families facing economic hardship. Officials encouraged other residents to take advantage of upcoming empowerment cycles to build brighter financial futures.
