FOLA Gifts Mother Car After Buying Her Land for Church
Afrobeats singer FOLA has surprised his mother with the car she asked for, completing the only two requests she made when his career began to take off.
He said he once asked her what she wanted as the music started to pay. She named a church building of her own and a particular car. He had already bought her land in Ibadan, where she built the church. The new vehicle, a Lexus SUV in videos circulating online, closes the list.
“I thank God for keeping this running long enough for me to say I’ve done both things,” he wrote.
Before the breakthrough he worked as a Bet9ja cashier in Ibadan, a job he has talked about as a marker of how far the family has come. His mother is seen in the clip dancing across the lawn and holding him after she finds the car waiting.
The story is a familiar Afrobeats ritual first real money goes home but the framing is specific. She did not ask for a catalogue of luxury. She asked for a church and one car. He has now delivered both.
