The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has commenced the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.

The electoral body said the notice, which is circulating online, directs prospective applicants to a website presented as an official recruitment platform, but stressed that neither the notice nor the website originated from INEC.

In a statement issued on Monday, the commission urged members of the public not to visit the platform, submit personal details, upload documents or make payments through the website.

INEC said the recruitment portal being circulated online was not an official commission platform and warned that engaging with it could expose applicants to fraud and the misuse of their personal information.

The commission advised Nigerians to disregard the recruitment notice and rely exclusively on its verified communication channels and official websites for information concerning election activities and recruitment.

According to INEC, all legitimate recruitment and election-related announcements would be published through its verified channels and official platforms.

The commission directed Nigerians seeking authentic information about its activities to visit its official website, inecnigeria.org.

INEC said it had previously issued similar warnings over fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements falsely presented as originating from the commission.

The electoral body urged Nigerians to verify the authenticity of online recruitment notices before clicking on links or submitting personal information.

It also appealed to members of the public not to circulate the fraudulent notice, stressing the need for caution when responding to online recruitment offers.

“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click,” the commission advised.
