Female Students Detained Over Alleged Assault Captured in Viral Video
The Plateau State Police Command has taken several female students into custody following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing the assault of another student in Pankshin Local Government Area.
Police authorities said the arrests were made after the video surfaced online and generated widespread concern among members of the public.
The Commissioner of Police ordered an immediate investigation into the incident, leading to the identification and arrest of the students involved.
According to the command, the suspects will undergo further questioning at the State Criminal Investigation Department as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The police condemned the alleged act, stressing that violence and mob actions have no place in society and will not be tolerated.
Authorities warned students and residents against taking the law into their own hands, urging them instead to report grievances through appropriate channels.
The command also cautioned against the recording and distribution of violent incidents on social media, noting that such actions could have legal consequences.
Police officials assured the public that anyone found responsible would face prosecution in line with the law.
They further reiterated their commitment to protecting residents, maintaining public order and ensuring justice for victims of abuse and violence.
