Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers in Ondo
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two men allegedly involved in a kidnapping at Molege community in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects are said to belong to a kidnapping syndicate that has been terrorising communities in the area.
Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. He said the arrests were linked to the kidnap of one Abubakar Abdullahim on August 1, 2026.
According to the statement, the arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Akure. Acting on credible information, operatives travelled to Oyo State and, working with the Oyo State Police Command, arrested one Adamu Rabiu in Ibadan.
The second suspect, Haruna Likita, was arrested around Ipele, near Owo, in connection with the same incident. Preliminary investigations established links between both men and the kidnapping. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly made statements admitting their involvement.
Jimoh said the investigation is continuing to identify other persons who may be connected to the crime and to uncover the wider network of the syndicate. The suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded. Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
