Again, Comrade Bamidele Emerges Humanitarian of The Year
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) proudly celebrates its Convener, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, on his emergence as Humanitarian of the Year by the Nigerian Association of Social Work Students, University of Ilorin.
The recognition, presented in commemoration of World Humanitarian Day, further affirms Comrade Atoyebi’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian service, youth development, community support and creating opportunities that positively impact lives.
The latest honour comes two years after he was similarly recognised as Humanitarian of the Year by the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ikoyi, in 2024, demonstrating consistency in record of service across different communities and institutions.
For Comrade Atoyebi, humanitarianism goes beyond financial interventions. His efforts have focused on creating lasting opportunities supporting education, empowering young people, promoting value orientation and providing practical assistance to communities.
Through the Prosocial Care for the Stranded Foundation, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi has assisted in defraying school fees of indigent pupils at Kuruduma Primary School in Asokoro, Abuja, many of whom were reported to be orphans. The intervention covered pupils in Primary 1, 3, 4 and 5. He has also been involved in broader efforts to support out-of-school children, a major concern of UNICEF, reflecting his belief that education remains one of the cardinal pillars in attaining sustainable ways to expand opportunity, build human capacity and improve lives.
Between 2023 and 2024, through the Prosocial Care for the Stranded Foundation, Comrade Atoyebi was also involved in securing the release of more than 300 inmates, spanning payment of fines for those unable to regain their freedom because of financial constraints. The Foundation further provided medical interventions through supplies, drugs, furniture and other forms of support to improve the welfare of inmates and vulnerable persons. These interventions were among the significant humanitarian efforts that contributed to his recognition as Humanitarian of the Year by the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ikoyi, in 2024.
His commitment to education and youth empowerment has equally produced significant interventions. Through the Lateef Atoyebi Bamidele (BAMBAM) Foundation, more than 3,500 out-of-school children were reported to have benefited from school-fee support in 2023, while the Foundation also collaborated with educational institutions to provide JAMB opportunities for 450 students. Together with the work of Value Orientation for Youth and other youth-focused initiatives, these efforts demonstrate a sustained commitment to empowering young people and creating pathways to a better future.
His work has also extended to initiatives aimed at employment creation, youth development, community support and giving people access to opportunities that can improve their lives.
BAT-IG therefore values this award not merely as an honour to its Convener, but as recognition of a philosophy of service: impact should not only be measured by what is given today, but by the lives empowered to do better tomorrow.
As Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi continues to serve as Convener of BAT-IG, National Coordinator for Accountability and Policy Monitoring, Founder of Value Orientation for Youth and Prosocial Care for the Stranded, the Group remains committed to advancing a culture of service, responsibility and meaningful impact.
Congratulations to our Convener on this well-deserved recognition!
